Survivor: China

Give it away, give it away, give it away now. That's the attitude coming from Denise Martin, better known as the lunchroom dame from Survivor: China. Check this: she finishes fourth on the show, and the big-shot producer is so taken by her story that he surprises her with 50,000 smackers. Talk about a consolation prize.

Here's the kicker ... she is giving every last red cent to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDs Foundation. That's right. She's got a beer budget, and she gave away the champagne dough, baby. Maybe we should all get a clue from this dollface.

She's makin' a little and givin' a lot, jack. If she can do it, so can you. It's the giving season. You may be struggling, but there's always some joe or jill who's more down on their luck than you. Give what you got and you'll never want; that's what I say. You don't have to empty the checking account, but don't be afraid to dish out the goods. I'm out.

Hero rescue

From one kind of hero to another. Today, it's a hero rescue to end all, jack. I would set this kid up for life if I could. Some wanna-be tough guy pulled a gun on his dame at a Detroit gas station and started popping caps. The one thing he didn't count on? Her 7-year-old daughter Alexis Goggins, who jumped into the front seat to block the bullets before they got to mommy. Oh, baby.

Now THAT'S a hero. No thought for herself, all thought for someone else. THAT'S the kind of intensity that makes ordinary joes and jills into something more. I tell you what ... let's rally around this kid. If you can do anything for her or her family, do it. Even if it's just a matter of saying one to The Man Upstairs, get it done. She's earned it.

You may not get that kind of calling in your life, but you can have that kind of spirit. It's the stuff that dreams are made of. Find a good calling, then jack yourself up like the Hulk on steroids to get it done. Don't hold back!

Guitar Hero III

Sorry I've been away for so long, joes and jills. I've been gettin' into the Christmas spirit big-time, baby. It's the season for giving. Speaking of giving, check out the lesson this guy gave his son who was up to no good.

Daddy came home and found his son hemping it up with two loser friends. So he took his son's Nintendo Wii game Guitar Hero III ... that he has just bought a couple of days before ... and eBay-ed that sucker for 9 grand.

Lesson to be learned? Giving can take many forms, see? You can buy something for someone; you can teach 'em something (read: how to make a personal budget), or you can give them life lessons. Either way, have that giving spirit. Til next time ...
