Pension plans
I don't plan on eating Alpo during my golden years, jack. I think about stuff like that when I read about big business pension plans like this. Seems the bigwigs at Goodyear have decided to freeze the company pension plan to save the organization some dough. They're replacing it with a 401(k) where the employees contribute. Sounds to me like the joes and jills that work there will need to look out for their own retirement more. It's jazz like this that makes me shout over and over ... retirement is UP TO YOU! Ed McMahon isn't gonna ride in on a white horse with one of those oversized checks, and the government isn't gonna do jack for you. You've got to save money and invest smart. Once you have no debt and 3-6 months of expenses saved up, then stash 15% of your gross pay into growth-stock mutual funds, like they talk about on The Dave Ramsey Show.
We live in the richest country in this crazy world, so there's no reason why you shouldn't retire rich. Plan and fund your own retirement.
Spread the feelgoods, baby. Add me to your blogroll.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. I started paying off my debt after starting a Financial Peace University class in January 2006. I'll be back to read more of your blog. I love seeing success stories and am eagerly anticipating the day when I can call Dave Ramsey up & say I'M DEBT FREE!!!
