Chris Gardner, stock broker
Ladies and germs, meet the man. That's right ... Chris Gardner, stock broker. You may have seen the flick based on him, "The Pursuit of Happyness" starring Will Smith. The Chris Gardner story will bring a tear to anyone's eye. Not only was he homeless and a single father, but he got hit with enough hard luck to fill an album full of country songs. You know how he responded? Hard work and unstoppable persistence led to tons of dough, popularity and success. Most important, he's still got the humble heart to give back to the community. He should be featured on The Dave Ramsey Show for that.
If a homeless man and father who's having a tough time can work hard and get it together, then you can too. Get into some career that you dig. Learn how to make a budget so that, when you earn dough, you know how to use it. Give money away, and don't forget how to save money, get out of debt and take care of yourself, baby. It's the stuff that dreams are made of.

I would love to know why you advocate giving money away while still being in debt. Could you please answer this question for me. Thanks!
Good question, dollface. When you're deep-sixing your debt, cut out the stuff you don't need, like double lattes and car payments. But the world needs a giver. There's always some joe or jill who's got it worse than you. Could be a single mom with three kids down the street, or a homeless shelter that needs some work done on the building. So don't pass up the chance to help 'em out. Give a little now, and when you're out of debt, give a lot later. Pass it on, baby.
debtective,
Thanks for clarifying that for me. I would totally agree with you to give of your time but not hard earned cash while you are still in debt. You say "give money away" and that is different than giving of yourself, do your followers really understand this doesn't mean to give cash away but instead give of their time to the needy?
I find many bloggers who are following your methods to get out of debt and they all have in their budget a large sum of money to give to the church monthly and yet they are having a difficult time meeting their own needs. I know that is a personal decision for them but hope you haven't influenced them to give away cash when they really can't afford to do this right now.
Sherry,
hi and Hello *Sir DEBTective* (I feel you earned it!)
I know this may sound like a cliche about 'giving' but is so true and yes I am in the bottom of the boat as well thus why I signed up for Dave Ramsey's program (full yr ) and am now trying for my first baby step..:)
Thing is..'what goes around , comes around', is the easiest way I can explain it...what you GIVE away you get back tri fold! In my 'odd' money making on line I find this to be so true...I have been extremely helped by a friend of mine in CA, thus I have been able to help others do as I am doing, in return it is changing their lives as well...and yes I even left Daves link in their forums..
anything that helps me this much I want to pass around to those who maybe in same kind of mess as I am..altho I am beginning to see the sun shine now...:)
and now...My first ever reply to my own blog! Blows my mind tho I only added this last night, and already you saw it?? WOW! That is fast....you must have some 'feelers' out huh?? It's ok glad you stopped by!
A local chicagoan ..hmm...they call my town Chicago's summer playground...ever been here?
Congratulations on your 'turnaround'..you are a real inspiration...next I am after is the movie...

as an after thought here, one way of giving away is using the 'freecycle' website. I have used this quite often..This is so cool and also international, broke down to countries, then states, counties...you need yahoo ID..once signed up you can make offer or see if anyone needs anything you might have that you do not need....
Whoever wants what you have makes plans with you to make the pickup...or vice versa..
This is the best idea and helps save on our landfills....
